World Book Day 2026 at Parkside! At Parkside School there's a magical roar, When World Book Day knocks on the classroom door. The corridors buzz and the playground's alive, With stories and costumes from nine until five! There were fancy dress costumes wherever you'd look, Like characters marching right out of a book. Batman and Robin went dashing past, While Cruella chased puppies that ran very fast! There was Julia Donaldson galore in the hall, With Gruffalos stomping so big and so tall. Witches flew by with a whoosh and a zoom, You half-expected a dragon to burst through the room! One of the best parts of all (and we must make it clear), Was the children & staff who dressed up this year. They joined in the fun with laughter and cheer, You'd hardly believe some teachers were here! Some wore masks for The Masked Reader show, "Who's that?" we whispered, "We just don't know!" The voices were tricky, the clues were quite neat, But guessing the readers was hard to beat. The Reading Café was cosy and bright, With stories and snacks - what a lovely sight! Children read softly with books in their hands, Travelling through faraway lands. We tried bookmark making with glitter and glue, Creating bright markers for books old and new. Then off on our library visits we'd roam, Where shelves full of stories feel just like home. Our reading buddies sat side by side, With little ones listening, eyes open wide. Some whispered, some giggled, some read with a shout - Because reading out loud is what it's about! There were performances bursting with flair, Characters leaping and flying through air. Then book reviews shared what we loved most of all, With book talk ideas bouncing round the hall. So here's to Parkside, three cheers and a cheer! For stories and laughter we love every year. With books, brilliant staff, and imaginations that soar... World Book Day magic at Parkside galore!

Last Wednesday, all of Key Stage One had a fantastic trip to the Black Country Living Museum and what a brilliant day it was! The children stepped back in time and loved exploring the historic houses, canal boat, shops and school room. From riding on the old bus to experiencing what lessons were like in the past, every moment was filled with curiosity, excitement and wonderful learning! We were incredibly proud of their impeccable behaviour throughout the day. Well done, KS1! #proudtobeparkside
